Cost of Attendance
UNC Public Policy is committed to helping you navigate the UNC MPP cost of attendance. The cost of attending graduate school includes tuition, fees, and health insurance, for which you are billed directly. It also includes indirect costs such as room, board, books and supplies, travel, loan fees, and personal expenses.
- Fifteen percent of the MPP School-Based Tuition is allocated for need-based financial aid. Based on undergraduate course enrollment, teaching and/or instructional assistantships are available.
- The Graduate Funding Information Center (GFIC) supports current and prospective UNC-Chapel Hill graduate students seeking sources of funding for independent research, collaborative projects, fellowships, program development, and other scholarly activities.
- The Office of Scholarships and Student Aid administers financial aid in the form of federal student loans to graduate students. - The Graduate School offers several funding opportunities.
- A limited number of students may be awarded a teaching assistantship. As part of this award, students may receive a Tuition Remission Award, reducing tuition to in-state rates, and an In-State Tuition Award. The Graduate School recommends that students should not normally work in excess 12-15 hours per week on average for master’s students.
