The UNC MPP offers a formal minor for interested students enrolled in other graduate programs at UNC-Chapel Hill. Interested students must be enrolled for a graduate degree in any relevant UNC academic unit and may apply to complete the UNC MPP graduate minor requirements. The purpose of the graduate minor is to allow students in related areas of study to learn appropriate theoretical and analytical approaches to address policy challenges. 

If a student elects a formal minor, it must consist of at least nine credit hours for master’s students and 15 credit hours for doctoral students. To count toward the minor, all credits must be for courses listed (or cross-listed) in programs other than the major. A minor may consist of a set of related courses, some of which are listed by one program and some of which are listed by another. In most cases, the minor would not include courses in more than two programs. The minor must be approved in advance by the director of graduate studies in both the major and minor programs.
