About Project: Innovation
Project: Innovation aims to increase four-fold the number of social entrepreneurship courses taught at UNC, provide comprehensive mentoring to students, and offer targeted outreach to student organizations that are currently involved, or want to pursue, social justice and environmental justice issues.
Project: Innovation serves as a campus-wide resource and information center on social innovation and entrepreneurship issues for students interested in starting their own social venture.
The Project: Innovation core team includes Micah Gilmer, Emily Hylton and Sander Buitelaar.
Micah Gilmer, Phd. is a partner at the social research consulting firm Frontline Solutions, and graduated from UNC in 2004. Micah recently received his PhD in Cultural Anthropology at Duke University.
Emily Hylton, a senior majoring in Arab Cultures and Political Science and minoring in Creative Writing, serves as a project assistant, spearheading Project: Innovation's documenting of UNC-launched social ventures.
Sander Buitelaar, a double major in Economics and Environmental Studies and a minor in Entrepreneurship, also serves as a project assistant and has led the development of the research guides included below.
Project: Innovation will be housed at the Public Policy Department, in strategic partnership with the Center for Public Service.
