Undergraduate majors and minors in Public Policy are encouraged to complete an internship during their junior or senior years or during the summer between their junior and senior years. These are professional internship placements in a public/private or non-profit organization. Internships are available either through official programs or on a case-by-case basis.

Fellowships
- U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)- Offering Greater Research Fellowships for undergraduates in the environmental fields of study. Subject to availability of funding, the Agency plans to award approximatedly 30 new fellowships by July 30th, 2010. Eligible students will receive support (up to $19, 250 per year) for their junior and senior years of undergraduate study and an Internship during the summer for three months (up to $8,000) between their junior and senior years. - Green Corps- Green Corps, a program that helps recent college graduates launch careers in the environment and social change, is looking for motivated and talented, graduating seniors with an interest in environmental and/or social change organizing and advocacy. - Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation- This foundation is offering a new fellowship to an individual who is interested in phhilanthropy, public policy and social and environmental issues. It is also offering an internship each summer for undergraduate and graduate students. Deadline: January 11, 2010 Click here for more information.

- 2010 Spring White House Internship: A Public Service Leadership Program- This hands-on program provides an opportunity for students to gain valuable professional experience and build leadership skills. Applicants must have a commitment to publilc service, must have demonstrated leadership in the community and must have a commitment to the mission of the Obama administration. - United Nations Information Centre Internship: The UN Information Center is responsible for US/UN issues and serves as a liason to Congress, the US government and foundations in Washington. This is a highly competitive, UNPAID opportunity for college and post-graduates seeking a challenging experience in international relations. Interns are accepted three times a year (Fall, Winter/Spring, Summer). Knowledge of Microsoft office is required. - Pew Hispanic Center Internship- The Pew Hispanic Center is looking for Graduate and Undergraduate interns for the Summer of 2010 in Washington D.C. They are looking for students that are interested in studying Latinos in the United States. This internship pays an hourly rate of $13 and students must be willing to work full time hours. Opportunities
Carolina College Advising Corps- Seeking new graduates to serve as college advisers in low income high schools across North Carolina. This is a full-time, paid position with a one-year commitment with option to re-up for a second year.There will be an information session October 20, 2009 at 6pm in Jackson Hall. Deadline: October 30th, 2009 for the November interview and January 29, 2010 for the February interview.
