Bhairavi Jayaraman

Bhairavi Jayaraman is currently pursuing a Master of Public Policy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Originally from Cary, North Carolina, she earned an undergraduate degree in Economics and Public Policy with a minor in Composition, Rhetoric, and Digital Literature from UNC-CH.

During her master’s program, Bhairavi is keen on exploring the intersection of economics, public policy, and public health, focusing on global nutrition policy and healthy food retail initiatives. Her academic journey includes designing research studies and completing a capstone project with Meals on Wheels Orange County, enriching her understanding of these areas.

Driven by a passion for rigorous analysis, Bhairavi aims to build a career in policy research, contributing insights that inform evidence-based decisions in public health and nutrition. She possesses a strong foundation in data analysis, quantitative and qualitative research methods, and program impact evaluation, equipping her to approach policy issues with depth and creativity.

Outside of academics, Bhairavi enjoys quality time with friends and family, being outdoors, and traveling. She is a coach at UNC’s Writing Center and will be a John M. Belk Impact Fellow during the school year.
