December 2, 2024

Dr. Iruka and UNC Public Policy PhD student Menna Mburi, in partnership with the Black Alliance for Just Immigration and the African Family Health Organization, have received a P4A grant to explore maternal health disparities among Black immigrant women. Their research will examine how race, immigration status, and nativity affect access to care and birth outcomes, particularly in states with expanded Medicaid/CHIP eligibility. The study aims to identify healthcare barriers and inform policies that improve maternal health equity for immigrant communities of color. See the full list of awardees here.
