2024 Lambeth Lecture on Nov 12

November 6, 2024

Public Policy hosted the 2024 Lambeth Lecture on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 5:30PM in Frank Porter Graham Student Union Auditorium. The title of the Lecture was “North Carolina 2025: Reflections on People, Policy, and Philanthropy.” Joy Vermillion Heinsohn, Executive Director for the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation, and John Hood, President of the John William Pope Foundation both lead large philanthropic organizations which aim to promote the wellbeing of North Carolinians but have different ideas of what this means and how to do so. It was interesting to hear their thoughts on the future of North Carolina and the role of philanthropy in moving the state forward. The Lambeth Lecture Committee decided on this topic and the two speakers in part to look to the future after a divisive November election as well as to honor the Lecture’s namesake, Thomas (Tom) Lambeth, who led the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation for more than 20 years.
