Emily Nwakpuda is a native of Durham, North Carolina. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from North Carolina Central University in 2008. After graduation she served as a science and math teacher in the U.S Peace Corps. She was stationed in Namibia for two years and completed her voluntary service in 2010. She then earned a Master of Public Administration at North Carolina State University in 2013. Her diverse skill set will serve as a solid foundation as she pursues a specialization in Science Policy. Specifically, she is interested in how vulnerable groups (low income households, youth, and minorities) are impacted by policies that are intended to regulate and disperse science in society.
