Former North Carolina Governor James B. Hunt, Jr. spoke September 26th at UNC-Chapel Hill. Governor Hunt delivered the sixth annual Thomas Willis Lambeth Lecture in Public Policy to a full crowd in Gerrard Hall.
The Chancellor's Awards are the university's most distinguished campus-wide awards for graduating seniors (and in a few cases, juniors). This year, 17 of the most distinguished awards that are not restricted to particular majors, 5 were won by Public Policy majors! The 2013 Global Award for Entrepreneurship Research is awarded to Professor Maryann Feldman, Heninger Distinguished Professor in the Department of Public Policy and Senior Fellow of the Kenan Institute for Private Enterprise. This is the leading international award in entrepreneurship research.
The Center for Faculty Excellence recently completed a video series featuring Professor Benjamin Meier's approach to teaching. Professor Meier was recently awarded with the 2013 Johnston Teaching Excellence Award. Congratulations, Professor Meier!
Dr. Sudhanshu Handa, Department Chair of the Public Policy Department, will be the featured speaker in an upcoming event hosted by the Center of Global Development. Dr. Handa will be presenting his research on whether the Government of Kenya's Cash Transfer for Orphans and Vulnerable Children reduces the risk of HIV among young people.
